
Dr. Xialing Ann Chen, MD
Dr. Chen is a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Having immigrated to the United States at age nine, she brings a culturally attuned perspective to caring for patients across the lifespan and from diverse backgrounds. Her approach integrates medical expertise with empathy, respect, and collaboration, tailoring care to each patient’s unique needs.
Dr. Chen has a bachelor’s degree in Film and Media Studies, which deepened her appreciation for human stories and the complexities of the human condition. She earned her medical degree at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and completed her psychiatry residency at Sutter Health California Pacific Medical Center. She is currently pursuing fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at UCSF.
Dr. Chen’s clinical expertise includes: psychotic disorders, bipolar disorders, ADHD, sleep–wake disorders, autism spectrum disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, depressive disorders, Women’s mental health, bulimia nervosa, substance use disorders, obsessive–compulsive and related disorders, tics, Tourette syndrome, neuropsychiatric disorders, psychosomatic medicine, neuropsychiatry, and behavioral neurology.
Dr. Chen provides evidence-based psychiatric care that integrates medication management and psychotherapy when appropriate. She also collaborates with families, schools, and other medical professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
