
Dr. John Gregory Kelsey, MD, JD
Dr. Kelsey is a double board-certified psychiatrist and neurologist who brings a rare depth of expertise to understanding the intricate connection between the brain and mental health. He is passionate about helping individuals navigate complex emotional, cognitive, and neurological challenges with compassion and clarity.
Dr. Kelsey works with adults and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related conditions, ADHD, psychosis, and neuropsychiatric disorders. His background in both psychiatry and neurology allows him to take a holistic approach—addressing emotional wellbeing, brain function, and the social context that shapes each person’s experience.
Before joining Growing Minds Mental Health Services, Dr. Kelsey trained at Harbor-UCLA and California Pacific Medical Center, where he also presented clinical research on conditions at the intersection of psychiatry and neurology. He currently serves as a physician specialist in the Department of Psychiatry at Harbor-UCLA and as a psychiatrist with the Los Angeles County Office of Diversion and Reentry, supporting individuals through treatment and rehabilitation.
Dr. Kelsey’s therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity. He believes that effective treatment begins with understanding each client’s story—working together to identify goals, restore balance, and strengthen resilience.
